ISWFPC 2019

Antje Potthast, Stefan Böhmdorfer, Ivan Sumerskii and more colleagues of BOKU in Vienna presented their lignin related research results regarding analysis and modification at the ISWFPC conference in Japan 2019.

EWLP 2020

Ivan Sumerskii & Antje Potthast are going to present their  research results " Adding speed to lignin analysis" at the EWLP 2020 in Gothenburg.

Flippr² focusses on higher resource efficiency and more extensive utilization of wood based products.

The partners of Flippr² are pulp and paper mills. They are already running biorefinery processes. Flippr² wants more intensive utilization of lignin and pulp. Not only to achieve economic goals. The diversification of products is also important for the industrial partners. They want to expand their expertise in the area of chemical processing of wood. In some cases the further processing of these wood substances will take place on the same site, in other cases it will be sold to another industrial sector.

For now pulp is used in several products. Most important is still the application in paper products. Furthermore there are several niche markets where cellulose fibers are already applicated successfully (f.e.: electrical insulation in transformers).

Beside the process development of the pulping process and their modification and functionalization for different applications, the utilization of lignin in products like adhesives or other chemicals is a motivation for the company partners to participate in Flippr°.

The cooking process from wood to the single components ? a bio refining process ? shall be improved and release also lignin as a saleable product.
